Eros Zhao

Eros Zhao has both an artist and art historical background. He received his MFA in Painting and Drawing from the Art Institute of Chicago, an MA in East Asian Studies from UCLA and a PhD in Art Administration from the Taiwan Shih-Chien University. He is a former faculty member of the Art Institute of Chicago.
           In 2021, Zhao directed and produced the documentary In Our Hands for the National Museum of Asian Art at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. In 2019, he began directing and producing a new documentary Untelling Time in collaboration with the Denver Art Museum. In 2017, he directed and produced the documentary film Traces of the Brush, which premiered at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. The film won him the Best Director award at the 2018 Milan International Filmmaker Festival, along with many other awards and honors.
His notable publications include: Studies in Connoisseurship, (Chinese translation edition, 2022) & Zhao’s Sketch Book, 2006.
